The Chinese  American Citizens Alliance Joint LA/GSGV Scholarship Committee has completed their selection process and is happy to announce the following nineteen 2009 $500 scholarship recipients:

The Chatsworth students are from Chinatown. The main criteria for the selection are academic achievement, financial need, school and community service activities, along with the applicant's personal essay, recommendation letter, and interview.

 

The following are the local winners of the 2009 National Chinese American Citizens Alliance Essay Contest and the local contest using the same entries from the Los Angeles Area:


National Awards

  • Merit Award ($100): Ivy Wang 王葳, 12th Grade, Temple City High School


Los Angeles Lodge

 

  • First Place Award ($100): Wendy Li 黎雯, 11th Grade, Oak Park High School
  • Merit Award ($50): Maize Wang 王脉澤, 12th Grade, Oak Park High School
  • Merit Award ($50): Kevin Huang 黃俊宏, 12th Grade, Chatsworth High School


Greater San Gabriel Valley Lodge

  • First Place ($100): Ivy Wang 王葳, 12th Grade, Temple City High School
  • Merit Award ($50): Janet Guan 關惠君, 12th Grade, Alhambra High Schoo
  • Merit Award ($50): Jenny Wu 吳婷婷, 9th Grade, Arcadia High School

The award ceremony for both high school scholarship recipients and the essay contest winners was held at the Los Angeles Lodge, 415 Bamboo Lane in Chinatown, 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
