The Chatsworth students are from Chinatown. The main criteria for the selection are academic achievement, financial need, school and community service activities, along with the applicant's personal essay, recommendation letter, and interview.
The following are the local winners of the 2009 National Chinese American Citizens Alliance Essay Contest and the local contest using the same entries from the Los Angeles Area:
National Awards
- Merit Award ($100): Kimberly Guan 關晶慧, 12th Grade, Alhambra High School
- Merit Award ($100): Ivy Wang 王葳, 12th Grade, Temple City High School
Los Angeles Lodge
The award ceremony for both high school scholarship recipients and the essay contest winners was held at the Los Angeles Lodge, 415 Bamboo Lane in Chinatown, 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Congratulation to all the winners. Thank you all for your participation. For the non-seniors, you can participate again next year.
